The next four years look rather bleak if you hate abortions, gun control, and welfare. But don't worry conservatives, it's not the end of the world for you yet! Even though Barack Obama, the man who promised a quick end to the war, lovey-dovey foreign policy, and an end to rendition, is transitioning at a historic pace and roumored to have bills set to sign on inaguration, it doesn't spell the end for everything Bush has pushed past Congress. Health care cannot be reformed into a social system so large within the tenure of one presidency. Insurance companies will still exhist and probably still rule in four years.
Rendition could be ended with a simple executive order, but the fallout from this would be impossible for Obama and leftists to ignore. Terrorists currently held in secret prisons (who's practices are worst than Guantanamo's) would have to be brought in to U.S. courts for trial, and then grand majority would then walk free because most of the evidence used to convict terrorists is aquired through illegal means, such as water-boarding. People will literaly be able to admit to terrorist activities and walk free because of technicalities in our law, making it really hard for the new president to end rendition and close Guantanamo.
What about your taxes? There will most likely be a tax cut for most middle class Americans like Obama has promised. He has also promised to roll back tax cuts on the super-rich, but that is one of his promises that may not be kept. Because of the current economic crisis, he may wait until those tax cuts expire in 2011.
There are many other issues in which Obama will have to compromise with conservatives and in some cases give in completely, so if you are a conservative, there is no reason for you to stop fighting for what you believe in, because it's not over for you quite yet.
